The event was opened by Iurie Scripnic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Ambassador Sándor Szabó; both praised the fact that agricultural cooperation between Hungary and Moldova now has a 30-year history, with a focus on animal husbandry, feed production, and seed production. Both expressed their conviction that Moldova's European integration prospects offer opportunities for further bilateral cooperation, including the strategic planning and monitoring of the Common Agricultural Policy and the support mechanism for the grape and wine sector. The parties agreed to maintain ongoing professional relations in the coming period.
Background: At the meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries in Budapest in January 2024, Viktor Orbán proposed that Hungary provide European integration training to 50 Moldovan civil servants in three areas: local government, customs and taxation, and agriculture. The first two study trips took place in Budapest in 2024 with the participation of around 40 Moldovan civil servants.
